A Christian Brother needs our help
During the last visit to World of Lugers I got to meet some incredible Luger collectors. Bill Stanley was one of them. This was the 2002 Luger fest. For those that attended, a reminder is the attached photo. Bill is the second person from the left. Bill and Linda Stanley are facing some tough times ahead.
To preface this, I am reminded of our friend Viggog that faced kidney cancer and the response from so many of us on this forum that prayed for him was amazing and very comforting to him as he later stated. Bill Stanley had a liver transplant in the late 1990s and he was like many near death when this happened. A disease had destroyed his liver and his son was the donor that gave him 1/2 of his liver so Bill would have another chance at life. Bill is a very quiet person and many on this forum didnt even know about it. Well....the disease is showing signs of beginning an attack on his new liver. He and Linda are facing some dark, tough days ahead and REALLY need our prays. His email is deuce.10@comcast.com and I am sure he would be comforted to know you are praying for his healing. Thanks to all! I appreciate it and I am sure they will too! |
I, and Carol, are also fortunate to be able to say Bill & Linda are our friends! During their last visit to the WOL gathering, we spent some quaility time with them... better then that, it was some great time spent together!! It is with great distress that we now hear of this illness returning....Some of the great stories Bill told me, had us laughing so hard that I almost hurt myself from trying to breath! These people have already had their share of tough times, unfortunatly life is not fair... and this is a clear example of that fact.... I can only say that it is our deepest wish, and most sincere hope, that these two quaility people can overcome this hurdle that has been placed in their path..God bless you both, and the best of luck, Bill & Linda, till...later....GT

I have wondered and now see why Bill has not posted. I think he is one heck of a nice guy and wish him the best, his wife and him are in my thoughts daily, :) Best of luck to him,

I remember Bill & Linda well from the last LugerFest in Phoenix. First class folks.
Our prayers are with Bill & Linda. May God be with them in this difficult time. Luke |
Bill, I am glad to have met you at the Lugerfest 2002, I give my best wishes to you for a speedy recovery and hope to meet you again at the next gathering, may God be with you, Herb.

Bill & Linda will be in our prayers also.

While I've never met Bill and Linda, they will be in our prayers.
As someone who just 2 months ago almost lost a spouse I can asure you getting words of encouragment and all the prayers really helped. And for those who did say a prayer for Cathy, she is now home and recovering very well. thank you all Jim |
I too would add my best wishes and prayers for Bill and his family. I am sorry I missed Bill and Linda at the last gathering, but have corresponded at length with him.

Thanks all you great people! It is wonderful to know that there are good folks like you supporting me with your thoughts and prayers. As some of you know I have been through some tough times before and, if the Master Plan allows it, I will overcome the struggle ahead. Things are still good for me and I have a lot of inner strength, hope and faith. I have to admit that I have turned down the 'heat' on the Luger burner a little but it is still on 'simmer'. Knowing you are all out there is comforting to me and I am confident that I will have some good news to share with you all someday. Again, thanks for the support and kind words (especially the thoughts and prayers).
Still hanging in there, Bill |

My Mom, who was J. Edgar Hoovers' Secretary in the mid forties, developed a 10 pound tumor on here liver and had surgery, just about 1 1/2 years ago, to remove it. The best Dr.s had completely written her off. We finely found an excellent Dr. at a Medical College who would do the operation. Even he told her that she would probably die in surgery (the liver is a very tricky thing). Mom has been a devout Christian her entire life. Let me tell you that she had no fear at all. I knew that Mom was strong, but this was the ultimate test of faith, and at 78 years of age. We had over 400 people in prayer for Mom, she knew almost all of them! Then came the moment of truth, the surgery, scheduled to take 5 hours. I held Mom's hand as they wheeled her into the operating room, not knowing if I would ever see her in this world again. The operation was over in a little more than 2.5 hours. I was prepared for her death, and feared for the worst, but the Dr.s appeared and announced that the operation had been a complete success. Today, at almost 80, Mom "serves the Lord with gladness" Sieger |
Hang in There, Bill,
> I know the feeling that plagues us , I say "Us" because I too have known the empty feeling of dispair, and I also know the warm glow of having so many Good Friends form a Prayer Chain in ones hour of despair. > I received much comfort at having copys of all the comforting mail that I received both through the Forum and E-mail, printed out along with as many of the Rogue Photos as I could match up. > I had these at my side to read for comfort, and It sure worked, along with the comforting Knowledge that some where all the way from Central Europe to Australia there was someone prevailing upon Our Lord to touch me with His Healing Hands, at all hours of the day and night. > These "Our Forum Friends" were there for me and "We will now be there for You". > So once again I'll say "Hang In There", all of our prayers go with you. > ViggoG |
I certainly know about prayer, My father was in intensive care for three weeks after cancer surgery. All his doctors had basically told us it was grim! The Good Lord had other plans for him. He pulled through that crisis amazingly! Prayers from good Christians all over the country helped him pull through, I have no doubt. He did pass on years after this at age 74 but I there is no question in mind, that prayers helped him during and after the surgery.

I will certainly include some prayers for Bill. I'm spending tommorow at the doctors with my father in law, who's having a bout with cancer. I've been doing a lot of praying.
No sweat, and best wishes, Stevie. |
For BILL,
Now that we know, rest assured that you and your family will be in our prayers... and I know that you know how powerful prayer can be... May the healing power of the Lord's hand cover and comfort you in your time of great need. James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. |
Bill knows that he can count on us if needed, and Stevie, you'll be in our thougths as well.
It might be life, but it still stinks and I wish the best for all that face those nightmares that come at us at times. Ed |
