Lugers in crime
 

Deer season is over and I'm depressed, just too much fun to end so suddenly, so I got to thinking about Lugers again and wondered if any were used in any big name criminal acts. Any more?

Brewer and Griffin said that they fled to Chicago after the Kansas robbery, bought a car and drove to Waterloo. They were staying at the home of Mrs. E.F.Graves east of Waterloo. Brewer's German Luger automatic pistol was found about 20 feet from the scene of the crime.

Gardner said he went into his bedroom, loaded the Luger and then went to the couple's bedroom. He said Hancock advanced with the knife and he shot him. He fired the Luger five times before it jammed. Det. Lance Crull found a spent bullet on the bedroom carpet where Hancock's body had been laying. A four-foot section of carpet was ripped up and taken away as evidence. Shell casings were scattered around the room.

Awakened by his wife who heard somebody entering their house, the man grabbed a Luger he had acquired when serving overseas during World War II. When the suspect confronted the homeowner, the elderly gentleman shot him once in the head, killing him.

He had a German 9-mm. Luger that he had bought for $37.50 at M&H Sporting Goods in Philadelphia, and he had thirty-three rounds of ammunition. It was enough to do what he had in mind.

Tom, ugly, unlike beauty, is not in the eye of the beholder. Its just ugly. FYI, my two ugly dogs have almost as many legs as any two other dogs, they bark like the others, have just as many eyes, food goes in one end and out the other same as the rest, and they most definitely have more fleas than those "well bred animals". Good part about ugly dogs is that you don't have to worry about anyone stealing them for breeding purposes, and I spend no money on vet bills cause they are just too damn ugly to waste money on. Axl got chewed up by something last week and his ear got infected, I scrubbed it out with peroxide and alcohol (sob tried to bite me) then I dug around in the bathroom and found some outdated antibiotics from when my daughter had her wisdom teeth cut out. Halfed the pill, shoved it down his throat and two days later he was all healed up. Vet would have charged me $150 to do the same thing. Regarding the "too much time" I really don't, I started a project that is going to take a lot of time, just didn't bring it home tonight, needed a break from it to clear out my head.

it would be interesting to know what happened to the Luger pistols mentioned in those stories? eh?

I was watching a show about security on the History Channel the other night. They had a segment about some guys (Puerto Rican nationals?) who stormed the gallery of the U.S. Congress at the Capital. They shot the place up pretty good, wounding four congressmen. One of the guys snuck a Luger past the guards in a binocular case.
