Portland Gun Show Report

Big Portland gun show--Rose City Gun Collectors--this weekend. Not as big a show as usual, quite a few empty tables, crowd was pretty good size. I wonder if gun shows get sparse around Christmas?

Anyway, to the Lugers. Not as many as last show. More singletons sprinkled around than usual, Jerry Kramer didn't bring any this show.

Back after an absence, a table which usually has some good shooting grade guns--
Alphabet DWM .30 Commercial w/holster $650
S/42 1938 $595
He also had a nickel-plated byf 42 which sold early

A dealer who has had these two guns on his tables for a while,
1906AE a really nice one $1495
byf 41 $895

1900AE $1600 its -always- there

1906AE singleton, low grade gun, overpriced at $1250

Three really nice Lugers in a showcase,
1906AE 9mm excellent $2500
A Luger which may be a First Issue P-08--I had to look it up after I came home, and don't remember if it had a stock lug or not--$1900, but the price went up as I watched
There was also a mint-looking 41/42, not for sale

A table with
1921 DWM Police $650
.30 Commercial $800
both billed as shooters, and
1900AE $2000
John Martz Baby $2800
which are "regulars". The 1900AE is a stone bargain, I can't imagine why it never sells and I'm constantly worried that it will go before I can come up with money for it...

S/42 1938 rebarrel singleton, didn't catch a price

S/42 1938 rebarrel $400 another singleton

The dealer who had the Finnish Lugers and a mismatch S/42 (in the past--also some other Lugers) sold them before this show, but tells me that he is negotiating for a collection to sell (its too bad there's not a smiley for licking my chops in anticipation)

Another collector's table had two Lugers, but sold them before I had an opportunity to look at them--this guy's Lugers always go early. This makes me wonder, why is it that some people manage to sell their Lugers quickly, show after show, and others never manage to sell theirs so they keep showing up, show after show? Its not the quality of the guns or their prices...

Good show tho Dwight?

Sounds like those AE's could drop in price and make us happier!

So, are you going to admit to it and show me a few pictures,

I was there when Dwight bought his new beauty! It is truely a wonderful thing to behold. I personally only bought a copy of Lugers at Random, a soft carry case and a new cleaning rod. I have other guns that I am saving for and was not really tempted. It was a nice show.

Steve is being way too kind. He has stainless guns, so he has a prediliction toward the look. Anybody else would, rightly, LTheirAO.
