Police Lugers
What categories do these fit in? Should they have their own. A very interesting area to collect for sure! What do you think? New category?

In my opinion the Police Lugers would make a great new "Mini-Forum"! They are also a very interesting variation!

I too find the Police Lugers interesting. One of mine, an early post WW1 w/i suffix has Imperial army proofs in usual location on rt side of receiver, no chamber date, Berlin police proofed barrel, and finally an army depot stamped triger bar. All parts are numbered in the military fashion but "Germany" appears on the left side of receiver. Came w/2 matching numbered and police proofed mags. Almost forgot the sear safety (but no cut for mag safety).
I've always considered police pieces like mine a hybrid. They may have started out as commercial pistols, but when the police were nationalized during the 3rd Reich period many police came under military command. This is one of the things that makes the hobby interesting. |
