They're cheaper because nobody makes 8mm Nambu. You have to make you own in order to fire it. Also Japanese weapons were not known for their design or quality.

I owned one of these for a while. There was at that time a couple of ammo manufacturers supplying 8mm Nambu, although I cant remember their names. Anyway, the pistol was alot of fun to shoot, and fairly accurate. I fired about 300 rounds and never had a malfunction. Interesting piece of history, but not nearly as interesting as Lugers.

I like Nambu's and Arisaka's, just have one of each, but I think they got a bad rap after the war. It is interesting, growing up, I always read how Italian guns were crap, but now that many thousands have come into the country, you hear about how strong and good weapons they are.

Midway used to make 8mm Nambu, I still have some, and there are several guys that roll their own and sell it. I have the dies and such, but haven't reloaded in years.

P38's don't have the value of Lugers either, and I think it comes down to the mystique of the guns themselves.
