Re: I wonder what happened to the frame?

Maybe a baby gone bad or maybe a failed attempt to make the frame accept some kind of 15+ round magazine.

Something bad must have happened to the frame.

Hey, that would be a nice set of parts to fix up a mismatched 30Luger with huh?

Could also have been stolen...OR

Or otherwise illegally possessed in one of the Communist held states like California, New York or New Jersey... so the possessor decided to part it out...

Those are the numbers I need - everything matches, but the safety. Definitely not worth $200+ for the on part.

Yep, it could be stolen. The identifying part is missing.

That magazine alone would sell for about $100 on ebay.

I have a feeling that it will sell for more than a comparable complete pistol. We can all watch the effects of "auction fever". As to the frame, who knows if the seller has it listed somewhere separately? You cannot sell the frames on eBay.

John Sabato 04-24-2001 10:34 PM

There is no frame!

I emailed the seller and he replied cryptically that there is no frame, and no story about where it went. His reply was "that's just the way it is" and signed Z.

I have a bad feeling about his one. The parts are in way too good a shape for the frame to be the only missing part. The serial number is obvious on the side view of the cannon in the auction ad. It is a 1939 42 marked cannon serial number 5953u - Maybe one of our police officer members of this forum could run it through NCIC and see what pops...

Its now in the $400+ catagory! There are two shooters for auction on Gunbroker with a "buynow" tag of $375!!!

Almost matching, reminds me of ALmost pregnant! You eider is o u aint

My thoughts exactly John!

It just doesn't make sense to have matching parts in excellent condition with no frame. I guess another possibility is that it was turned in at one of those so-called "gun buybacks" and someone salvaged what parts they could.

Re: Luger, all matching...almost.

Several years back I bought six barreled receivers complete with the toggle assemblys from the estate of a gentleman that I had known for years. There was also numerous small parts, some of which had the same seial number as the receivers. No one knows whether his son sold the frames not knowing where the rest of the pistols were at or just what, but these things do happen. His son very rapidly sold off his fathers collection after his fathers death, and the parts I bought were found by other family members as they were cleaning out the family home to be put up for sale.
