Box 598,
Devers, Tx 77538.

Make check payable to Hugh Clark. I can also accept payment by Paypal direct transfer, but not by credit card. Paypal account name is: hhclark@mail.esc4.com <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />

John Sabato 09-09-2004 10:38 AM

The rest of you guys need to get off the dime and get yourself a patch to put on your shooting jacket...

I even have one of these politically incorrect patches thumbtacked to the bulletin board over my desk at the office...

be creative... Advertise... after all, membership here is at NO CHARGE... at least for now... With over 2400 registered members these patches should have flown off the shelf at Hugh's place!

<strong>.......membership here is at NO CHARGE... at least for now... ....</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">Ummm - this comment by John S. has elicted a lot of e-mail and Private Messages to me, so let me tell you folks they way it is - and the way it "will be"......

There is NOT a charge today to post to the LugerForum - and there NEVER WILL BE.

Period......

As well - since I hate banner ads on a Forum site - this site will not have any of those, either. It detracts from what this site is all about, and in that - I get to cast the deciding vote - actually - the ONLY vote....

In short - this site is "paid for" by me, and a few folks that have asked if they can assist. You can see who some of them where they have "Lugerforum Patron" under their Avatar (well, except for 1 person - who asked I not add that... But, he knows who he is, and so do I...).

And since I also include Moderators who give their time freely, you can probably figure out who those folks are - who have kindly made private donations without solicitation and just "because they appreciated what this Forum is about". As well, some folks just helped me out in their area of expertise, like Jerry - who repaired the Luger holster that I gave to my Dad when I was 18 years old.... Or Thor who had a pair of grips "he thought should be mine", and sent them my way.... Or Ed T. who.. Hmmm... You get the idea.. That's what this Forum is about - simply "random acts of fellowship and senseless acts of kindness".....

To those folks and my Moderators - and as importantly - folks that just pop by and ask questions - my thanks... It's what the site is all about. If it were not - you'd see paid banners/Sponsors/fees. You don't - and you won't... In fact......

I just collect and cherish these firearms. Just like you.... And no - I don't sell parts, books and guns - nor interrupt threads by saying "I have 10 of those - I'll sell them to you"..... Rather - I'm just a collector, and I can't put a "price" on the satisfaction of collecting for several decades..... And, I don't believe I'm alone in that sentiment.

My thanks for listening

Amen brother <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

He left out that Ed T. adds as many pain in the butt comments as he can, before John can delete them :D <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> :D

John Sabato 09-13-2004 09:57 AM

Our unrelenting Gratitude for all that you do and contribute for the Luger collectors, shooters, enthusiasts, and historians world-wide John D...

Just for clarification, My comment was intended to be philosophical rather than prophetical... hoping to cause those members who had mentioned a desire to have a forum patch in the past to reflect on what a great hobby this is, and that they would realize the effort that went into producing the patches 'they' wanted, and would help out Hugh who was instrumental in getting them fabricated and making them available without any selfish or financial motives...

I encourage all members to display or wear your forum's patch to drum up new interest in this great hobbie... I can't tell how many times I have been asked, "what is that patch all about?" which results in me bending their ear for half an hour on the ins and outs of Lugers... A great conversation starter... :)

Pete Ebbink 09-13-2004 11:33 AM

Folks,

Let's not "stick" Hugh with all of those unclaimed LF patches...

I thought we all had a gentlemens' (and ladies') agreements when we "placed our orders"...to complete our orders/transactions...

Some other web sites call it a "Hard Buy List"...

Hugh/John...if extra patches are left un-claimed...might we want to offer some on e-Bay to the outside world...???

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Hugh, Not that it's any of my business but wouldn't it help to show a photo of the Luger Forum Patch when offering them? I don't think the one used by John's avatar is the most recent one is it? If members could see what they look like it might help.

John, another subject that is probably not welcome but it's just an experience I had and thought you might take under consideration. I sometimes spend some time on the German dagger Forum. They don't have any pop up adds but do have dealer avatars and web sites, links I guess that if clicked on take you to places you find interesting. Daggers for sale etc. I find this extremely interesting and helpful. You do not have to click on it unless you want to but I have done so many times and invariably find interesting items.
I believe memberships are free but there is an available option to pay 30 bucks a year to participate in an avatar rank system. Just an inticement I suppose.
I am sure anyone who wants an avatar link to their business must pay something.
I know this is moot because of John's sentiments but never is a long time and a good stratigist always leaves options open for unknown contingencies. Besides it might open up some interesting venues that members would find helpful and interesting.
I would in no way benefit in any of these ideas....Just my observations from another site.

I also want to thank John D, and all those others who put so much time into the Luger Forum. It is a daily joy for me to participate and observe others who participate in this fascinating hobby. Thank you! Jerry Burney

thaks Pete... you beat me to it....

This is the latest (revision 2) of the official Lugerforum patch in Pete's post above.

Vlim 09-14-2004 01:22 PM

As I ordered, paid and received for a set of 'revision 2' patches a few months ago, I can only vouch for the quality and great looks of these patches.

Now I have to find a tool sometimes referred to as a 'woman' to sew them onto something :D

Ron Smith 09-14-2004 04:36 PM

Gerben, Careful when she sews them on too! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Vlim 09-15-2004 11:04 AM

Ron,

Thanks for the hint :)

I can dismantle a luger blindfolded, can rebuild a Mercedes S-class without much hassle, but that sewing thing....

Lee123 09-15-2004 12:42 PM

I'll take two. The check is in the mail. As for sewing...I do alot of civil war re-enacting and if you ever overheard some of the conversations we have you would think we were a bunch of old ladies. How to properly handsew buttonholes and period fabrics, stitching and patterns...sheesh!
