Was Hugh actually mentioned in the article! I understood that Keller was. Frank Manders will have a very nice FM logo on his baby that we will be finishing soon. That should be a very nice weapon, by the way, how is yours coming along Ron?

Hugh was mentioned as the grip maker, with the explanation that the grips are sectioned, glued together and re-checkered.

I haven't worked on my baby for years. Got the 1900 frame cut down, installed a coil mainspring assembly (like the Dutch prototypes) and adapted a 1906 breech block to the 1900 toggle train. Still haven't gotten a barrel made, mainly due to the fact that it requires long-frame threading. A long-frame 9mm barrel is about as scarce as a baby Luger. It will require a custom barrel to be made from scratch and I just haven't looked around enough to find someone to do it right.

Ron,good luck on the barrel work! The baby the AMERICAN HANDGUNNER Article shows (serial 03) on the sideplate IS the G date I did the finish work, strawing, rust bluing, fire bluing for him, so it must have been one of the first ones he put together. I have a standard 4" 9mm bbl that has had the collar thinned so that it fits a 1900 frame. The remaining collar is very thin, but it does work. This bbl could be shortened and the sight band reinstalled like I do on the baby's. Bless your heart. Generosity like that continues to increase my appreciation of the quality of people that inhabit this forum. I appreciate the offer, but I am afraid I would never be satisfied with the appearance. You know the work that goes into a baby, so it better be right when you are done. Again, thanks for your offer.

I just skimmed through the article today at Borders.(For those of you who live in states without a Borders, it is a major "fad" bookstore with a cafe, but at least the provide a lot of gun related books.) I also saw Hugh Clarke's name mention and wondered if Ted was mention, but I had to leave so I couldn't read the whole thing. Is the book The Luger Story a good read?

Yes, the Luger Story by Walter is a good book, good read, he has some things that are a bit different than American writers, but that is good I think! {{He is a Brit, Tac might know more if he is a true Brit or a forced Brit, :D }}
