Single shot armadillo gun

I know it is an old, dumb joke, but a little fun now and then helps. With sincerest apologies to Joe for defacing his beautiful Luger pic.

Ron it is just hard on the wrist pointing it in the "other" direction,

If this pistol was not locked breech, would it be considered a blowback or blowforward design?

wterrell 06-29-2002 10:00 PM

It would appear to be a blow-away design

Ron, that is absolutely amusing!

ViggoG 06-29-2002 11:45 PM

Ron,
I was of the opinion that this variation was first developed by the DWM for distribution to the various Polish Resistance Groups to have for Target Practice, And were equiped by the Polacks with a small mirror that attached in the Frame Rear Strap Loop for watching your rear.
I started to purchase one just before the "Old Forum" Deceased!
Now I'm stuck with two VERY RARE MIRRORS AND HAVE NO NEED FOR THEM!

OK, now for some more fun. Aside from the obvious changes there is one subtle change that will not be found on any Luger. The title of "Hawkeye" goes to the first person to figure it out.

Could it be that no one has made any change to the Grip Screws, The one non german design(British, Whitworth Threads)?

Hadn't thought of that one..but no, it is something visible in the photo.

Ron,
you sneaky snake, you filled the Locking bolt and Locking bolt spring HOLES!!! and relabled the safety to read from top down, instead of from bottom up !!!, and you have swapped the Safety from the Port Side of the Cannon Assembly to the Starboard side.

Hugh 06-30-2002 08:59 AM

Now I suppose Ted will be wanting a BABY "Polish One Shot Armadillo Gun"!

Ron Wood 06-30-2002 10:23 AM

Bravo! I dub thee Sir Viggo, first Knight of the Order of the Hawkeye ! (That thread on the Prince's Luger must have gotten to me ) I was actually looking for the Gesichert answer, the rest of the changes were simply the result of having to mirror image the cannon assembly to get it pointing in the wrong direction.

Ron Wood 06-30-2002 10:37 AM

Hugh,
Do you mean one like this? http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/Single-shotBaby.jpg

Thor 06-30-2002 10:48 AM

Ron, I am heartened to see you guys have such a good sense of humor!!! I think that is a "one shot"(at least one per owner) Luger.

Ron Wood 06-30-2002 11:10 AM

Ted, You got it, one shot and it becomes available for the next owner! I apologized to Joe for messing up his Luger pic, and I owe you an apology also. But thanks for posting such a nice picture that I could play with.

wterrell 06-30-2002 12:10 PM

What is the need for a "clip" in this particular model of the Luger (or is the clip capacity merely "one" round)? And were they supplied to the enemy?

Ron, surely the original of this model was a Borchardt, and it would be marvelous if you could find a von Papen version!

Ron Wood 06-30-2002 12:45 PM

Wes, The clip is full capacity, but if you can get off more than one shot, you are either one lousy marksman or one heck of a better man than I am!

Doubs 06-30-2002 01:32 PM

WOW! Are you guys a serious disappointment! Do none of you recognize two fine examples of the elusive Imperial Japanese Joint Army/Navy Contract Luger? Extremely RARE examples as most now rest at the bottom of the ocean.

These pistols were issued ONLY to Kamakazee pilots for use in the event that they were shot down and survived. It was their final chance to succeed in their mission should they find themselves in imminent danger of capture. The two examples illustrated in this thread may be the only surviving guns from the contract and are obviously unissued.... hence, the superb condition of both.

There's also an unsubstanciated rumor among advanced collectors that these may have been presentation model Kamakazee pistols, presented to pilots who completed five successful missions.
