paint removal

know ive seen this a 100 times,,but cant remember now....what is the best to remove painted in lettering and numbers? was it finger nail polish remover?? just want the paint gone,,,,not all the blueing!!!!! TIA

Fingernail polish remover will work. I like lacquer thinner as it is not harsh and will not harm the blueing. Be sure and remove the grips.

I have seen one person use an old toothbrush which seems to do the trick well. Using a toothbrush avoids the use of solvents on the blue.

Gun oil and a toothbrush will do it.

Yep, I agree with George. Gun Oil and a Toothbrush works for me too!!

Acetone, a cotton swab and a wooden toothpick. After all the paint is out of the little nooks and crannies, wipe off any surface residue with gun oil.

I agree with Ron, and make sure you eyes are covered with goggles or glasses, when you start scratching the letters or stamps, sometimes the toothpick will stick then come loose flicking the paint particals covered with acetone, you dont want those in your eyes!
