We have an artist/magician within our fraternity, in the personna of Ted Green. I have just finished admiring my 1913 Erfurt for the first time upon it's return to me from Ted's shop.
Ted, I've read the words of others that tried to describe your work, and nothing can adequately do it justice. Hugh's beautiful grips, and GT's fantastic mag bottom complement a Luger that I will be proud of for years to come. To say I'm pleased is a gross understatement. Thank you all!! Greg,
When do we get a look at it? I'm sure Ted has done a masterful job as usual!!! Ted has been a great help to me more than once! Not only is he good at his craft, but, He is also a great guy! Kind Regards, Brandon |
Hopefully this a picture of the Erfurt from Ted

Ted,
I like it! You sure did a good job!!! Kind Regards,Brandon |
Ted, that 2nd picture is simply outstanding!
A really nice pic and really beautiful gun!!! It is now my background picture for the week. |
Ted,
Thanks for coming to my rescue with the pixs! Greg |
WOW! The photos were so nice that it left Wes speechless
|
WOW TED! What a beautiful job on this one! Was the strawing done in your shop? It looks perfect. Keep up the great work. Jerry Burney
|
OF COURSE!!! Thor does ALL his own strawing, rust bluing and fire bluing!!! Thanks Jerry! I did a little different metal prep and bluing on Hugh's Artillery and he told me it was even better than the others I had done for him. I am getting where I like to do the Artys, the rear sight is pretty stunning on them with the bluing inside the lettering! WOW, what a neat variation.http://members.rennlist.com/lugerman/artysight.jpg
|
Thor! How about posting a "Before" photo of this masterpiece so we can see just how much work you put into it?
thanks, |
WELLL........I have some before from Greg Kilburns Erfurt, but I didnt take any from Hugh's Arty.http://members.rennlist.com/lugerman/GKBefore1.jpg

Gee......That was my gun?????? Folks, this might be hard to believe, but even the great "after" pictures that Ted posted earlier give just an inkling of his remarkable artistry.
Greg |
Thor,
I assume from Greg's "before" photos that this gun had been reblued before... The Safety and trigger are showing traces of blue. These photos make your transformation into a work of art all the more amazing! |
oops, double post!
|
All the credit to the Good Lord, he guides my hand and blesses the work! I am just lucky to be his tool! I am truely blessed and very grateful! All good things come from the Lord!

Received the arty yesterday morning. Ted has outdone himself on this one. Beautiful. I love that "fire blue" on the springs and pins, and the strawing looks like shiny new gold. Great job on the polishing and bluing, looks like it came out of DWM's factory yesterday! Thanks a million Thor!
If it ever stops raining over here so I can get outside and take some pics I will post them. |
Thanks Hugh for the compliments. I did a little different metal prep and bluing on your Arty and I REALLY liked the way it turned out. The rear site really tightened up nicely too, which was kind of a surprise that the method I used worked.
|
Is that method the "two licks with a 2# hammer" one, or the "one lick with a 5# hammer??
