Receiver Wrench
 

I know it is important to have a properly fitted receiver wrench when removing and installing Luger barrels. Does anyone have a dimensioned drawing of such a wrench? If so contact me so that I may get a copy of it.

I don't think I have seen a dimensioned drawing for a Luger receiver wrench, but several designs have been discussed and photos have been posted.

Use the search function (top right corner of this page) looking for the work "wrench" and you should find some good information on design.

If you have a Luger to measure from, and the know how to machine a wrench just for fun, then you should be able to build it without a thought for cost because most of the cost is in the labor not the materials.

Removing Luger barrels is not a job for the faint-hearted... Most all have been attached for better than 50 years and some for as long as 100 years...If you are not an experienced gunsmith, then I don't recommend you try this at home... One mistake, or one slip and your Luger receiver is marred forever.

.Seems that this is a never ending question on this and old forum. Last year I put together about a 10 page discertation, drawing and photos of tools to make and method for removing barrels. I sent it out to a few who ask. One guy set me $20 for my time. I have some experience before Thor and others got here. Would estimate that I have removed and replaced at least 100 and only scratched one or two. Not a big secret--only takes right tools and some mechanical skill. Less than $30 worth of material and a bit of work can make the tools without anything more than a drill press. Could be done with an electric drill, file and a hacksaw
