Hugh,
I would just like to say......WOW!!! It is PURDY!!!! Thor, in the world of Luger restoration you are king!!! |
WOW! NICE!
What type of wood are the grips? ROSEWOOD? Looks a lot like it and I love nice rosewood grips on a blued gun.... kidvett |
Hugh,
Great pics. I got to see it before it was shipped off and it was really beautiful. Would you mind if I adopt it as my own. Thor trully is a master isn't he. Sid. |
A really nice looking artillery and a good choice to refurbish.

Kidvett,
Believe it or not--those are original German military walnut grips that I cleaned up and recheckered! |
WOW! My God your grips are incredible....I wish I had grips like those on my WWI era pistols...
What do you use to clean those grips? Very nice Arty! kidvett |
Hugh,
As the proud owner of the first arty that Thor reblued, Welcome to the elite fraternity of Thor arty owners! I know that your LPO8 will become one of your most cherished possessions. Mine sure is. And she's a lot of fun to shoot. Feels a lot different from a 4" P08, and accurate as all get out! |
Kidvett,
I scrub them with Simple Green, a cleaner/degreaser that you can find at your local auto parts store or Walmart, and a stiff brush. Then rinse in clear water & dry in the sun. After freshening up the checkering, I apply a small amount of Natural (uncolored) Watco Danish Oil Finish and scrub it in with a toothbrush. Most original grips are plain brown, but about one in 20 or 25 will have that beautiful coloring like the ones on my Arty. |
Hi Hugh,
Those are beautiful. I bow before The GripMaster! |
