In my opinion, based upon my observations, this thing is a fake. The Simpson toggle is a different color than the other parts, but this might just be the lighting. Simpsons have E/6 proofs all over them, front of trigger guard, extractor, rear toggle, trigger, side plate grip screws--on and on. And lastly that serial # is made with an American stamp, the German # 1 looks exactly like the one I just typed, it has the foot on it so that it is not confused with the number 7 and even at that they additionally put a slash thru the 7. The right reciever has the crown RC for being an arsnal refinish but I am unable to identify those two oval proofs, have never seen them on a Simpson or anywhere else for that matter. What do you guys see that I missed, other than the straw or lack thereof? |

Jan, there are some Simsons dated 1917 and 18. See page 222, Lugers at Random, Jones pg 169 and Davis, pg 70. I wonder if the seller thinks he really has a rare piece or is he 'one of those'?

Ah-Ha, didn't know that, thanks. What are the ones that have no chamber markings, this is what I have but have no info on it.

Hello Herb and Jan !
1. Does anyone know who "sig380" is ? 2. On the right side of the receiver, some inspector crowns appear to have been struck but not the inspector's gothic style letter. Does this mean the gun was rejected and then later Crown/RC'd ? 3. On the left side of the receiver, it appears the gun had a 4 digit serial originall struck and then redone with the "1". Was this typically done with the Crown/RC guns or would the original serial nubmer have been left intact ? 4. For the S-code Simpson's, what is the current thinking as to when these Simpson's were made ? Early 1930's ??? Regards, Pete... <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" /> |
Hi,I know this is an old topic,but I clicked the AA link and discovered that this guy was suspended from AA.
I'm a anti-fraud advocate and thought I would give a heads up to my fellow Luger buffs. Interresting thread..-Mike- |
Actually says the account was disabled rather than suspended. If you know he was suspended for cause, then great, otherwise, this is a 5 year old thread and the account could have been disabled for many reasons. Heresay is fine,a s sometimes where theres smoke theres fire, but as Joe used to say;
The facts m'aam, just the facts. ED |
I've actually purchased a couple of items from the seller but it was a few years back. He normally puts pretty high prices on his items.
