I know you have all heard it before but Thor is the man.
Just got my 1920 (Alphabet)Commercial back from Thor and I could not believe its transformation. It was pretty sad when I sent it off. Most of the original finish was off and there was moderate pitting, not deep but in several areas. No stawing left either. The best thing was that it had all matching numbers. Thanks to Thor it looks brand new. I went for the DWM blue with fire blued parts, standard stawing on the appropriate parts and the new spring kit. Thanks also to Hugh Clark who expertly repaired and rechecked the original, worn and cracked grips. Hugh also expertly replaced the worn barrel with a very good 9mm Simson replacement barrel. While this project was not inexpensive I enjoyed bringing at $400 "dog" back to life. It is a great shooter and will serve on for many more years. |
Shipped out a 1915/1920 Double Date shooter that has a Simson toggle train. Finished a Post War P.38. This gun has one of the new baked on finish that is impregnated with teflon on the bottom frame, the top slide and barrel are rust blued, the frame is a light gray and the trigger and safety are fire blued. The owner wanted to mix up the colors a bit for contrast and the end result is certainly that. I might have some picture of it for those that want to see it. Not a standard Thor gun but fun to do anyway.

Shipped out Bob Berg's excellent 1941 Banner Luger today. Also shipped out a Post War PPK Slide and two magazines. Finishing up work on a 1916 Erfurt. Also rerust bluing (a screw up on my part) a 1900 American Eagle, receiver, barrel and frame, found a small blemish on it after I finished bluing it. Also doing a frame and sideplate for a Luger for another Gent! Thor has been busy! Looking forward to visit from my pal and his wife, Jerry and Ellie Burney, quality folks. I repaired a trigger on a Mauser Luger for him.
