Well finally!! The first photo is of the "Swan" & "Baby" to show the relative proportions. Both Lugers were finished by Thor, have grips by Hugh and Magazine bottoms by GT.

Great Photos of Great Lugers Frank!

Hey JS, glad you like them. Both are very special to me. The Swan is my first Luger, which I bought about 30 years ago. It was a pretty beat up shooter until Thor fixed it up for me.

Frank can probably figure out how long the wait period was... many months I am sure since it was custom work, but if Frank answers you without calculating it... his answer would probably be an 'ETERNITY'... :D

That baby is flat outstanding! The chamber engraving is a touch of class (but that is no less than what one would expect from a gentleman such as yourself). Your team that assembled this piece have done themselves proud. You are very fortunate. My sincerest congratuations.

To Jerry and The Rons: Thanks much for the comments! I am very proud of this "Little" addition. Yes, the "Guys" did a SUPER bit of craftsmanship for me. I hope someday you can see it in person!!

To see it in person will require you to come to it, not the other way around!!

I haven't shot it yet. Sort of waiting for the temperature to get a little bit lower. I'll give you a report as soon as I have taken it for a walk!! :)

Jerry, Send me a couple of your best Lugers. I've got a hacksaw , bastard file,and a propane torch. I can make us each one. You'll have to make your own grips and buy the cold blue. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

I am really happy for you and your beautiful grips. I would advise you to keep them in a 1 to 1 mixture of baby powder and dry corn meal. The ancient Egyptins used this formula to preserve duck livers and truffles for the royal court in times of short supply. More recently we have discovered that I have no idea what I am talking about and I still need help with my jamming problem.
I am the new guy who posted a thread and was moved to the new guy forum (ZINZAN). I want the gun to fire an entire magazine without trouble more than anythiing. I am an experienced shooter (mainly rifles) and you can be sure that I am not "limp wristing" the pistol. Thankyou for putting up with me

I would also like to include STRIDER in this discussion and let everyone know he did the art work that Frank asked for as to the chambering and toggle markings. He was a big help to me on Frank's Baby and the I agree the chamber marking is such a nice classy addition to a fine Baby Luger. Bill Adair did the actual engraving work. I am happy to see Frank showing the Baby Luger off.

I like how the "Mf" motif was taken from the M2 Portuguese chamber markings...very clever work.

Does Bill Adair do such engraving free-hand or is he using CAD-aided engraving machines...???

1. Your Baby looks like it has the original "polished" thumb safety area and short frame/receiver. Might I ask what donor gun this was...?

2. What are the letters of the rear toggle tang engraving..."H C"...is that for Hugh Clark...?

Dont mean to horn in, but I dont think Frank knows the answer to your first question, though I am postive he knows the answer to the second. Bill Adair can write clear text that is so small you have to have a magnifying glass to read it, it is that small. He does NOT use CAD machines and has even made some of his own equipment. He does his work with hand guided implements which is darn amazing to me. I dont think he would want me to go much farther with his equipment info. Frank had this great idea about the use of the Portuguese Logo and it worked out terrific. Frank was VERY exact on how he wanted it done and Strider went through quite a few iterations of the logo before it was approved for engraving. A very very nice Luger and very well worth the effort and expense. A quality monogram like this really is classy in my opinion. I would also like to thank Bill Adair, he took me under his wing as far as my getting my business started and taught me a lot. He is a quality fellow and a good friend.
The donor gun came to me with a blued looking safety area and we left that look. The safety area has a two step milled out area, not a smooth single level. The upper area is the deepest with the lower area near the pivot point of the thumb safety being less deep, analogous to a two level swimming pool.

The Luger started life as a Bulgarian which had been polished and reworked. When I got it it was a shooter in the first degree.

Yes, "HC" stands for Good Ole Hugh!!! :D
