Removing Blueing from Straw parts

Hello: I have owned a Mauser Comm. S/42 "G" date
for 5 years. I have fired it at least once a year,
since it is "non-matching" A former owner had all
the Straw parts Blued, is there any chemical that
will remove the Blueing without damaging the remaning Straw finish? Yes, I plan on dismantling
the Gun first. Thanks in advance.

I would guess that the old straw finish was polished off so the parts could be blued. But there are several chemicals available too remove the blue finish, I just bet your not going too find a straw finish under it. You can remove the blue and re-straw the parts yourself, I can send you a fool proof instructions for strawing, or send me the small parts and for $85 I'll polish/re-straw and send parts back.

Will do, but what the heck is your 'e' mail addy? I can direct you to some repro bottoms, haven't seen any real ones lately. Hugh Clark on this forum makes some of the best you will ever come across, you might ask him. rimfire@color-country.net

John, In addition to carrying the full line of GT's repro wood mag bottoms (standard unmarked commericals, Navy concentric circle, Swiss metal insert type, Cal. 9mm or Germany marked) I also have a good selection of used orig wood bottoms. Please specify if desired unmarked, Germany marked, Police or military numbered, and condition required. They range in price from $10 for badly worn or chipped to $35 exc. TH

Viggo Dereng is also a Lugerforum member and craftsman who is fabricating wooden mag bottoms... and their quality is excellent!

Gentelmen, I thank all of you for your helpful sugguestions. I did remove the Blueing from my parts, there are traces of Straw still remaining.
I havent made up my mind weather to polish and re-straw or leave it alone. Since its non-matching
and a great shooter, I might just leave it as I bought it. I get a great deal of pleasure from
working on my Luger's precision mechanism.
