1941 Police Holster

This came as a complete Rig, the holster is in really nice shape, but the gun was left literally under a seat in a truck. As a fun gun to show others, matching holster, gun and loading tool, but not to show off!

Anyway, this is my question, The Banner is a 1942, at the very beginning of a run for some police guns, its serial number is 2334y but the holster is a 1941, (A Fischer Berlin C2 1941).

The holster (which I tried to take pictures of the date and manufacturer, but my scanner can't see it).

Did holsters get sent to the Mauser factory and placed with the gun, or more likely were holsters "matched" when issued with a gun at the Police supply or issuing location???

Ed; your NICE holster was matched in the field.

Thought so Lonnie, makes perfect sense, just starting to do this stuff. The uhhhh, matched pistol, has been el-trash-o'd!

Poor Thor said he'd whack it wit his hammer before all was said and done :D

I was thinking maybe I will try it as a first atempt, be careful of the sharp edges, blah, blah,

Holsters were issued as a clothing/uniform item from the clothing depots; when married up with a pistol in police service they were frequently serial numbered to their respective guns. This practice was also done in the Weimar-era Navy.

About the only holsters that were married up with pistols prior to issue were those contract pieces which had holsters included in the procurement such as the Persians and late Dutch navy guns. In those cases, Mauser subcontracted the holster manufacturing but delivered holsters with the guns.
