Re: Should I get this one

Only if you are in need of an expensive rusty paperweight!

John D. 02-07-2001 04:06 PM

Ahh - Ted??? Can you work your miracle with this baby??

Marc 02-07-2001 04:13 PM

why?

I'm just wondering why some one would pay that much

John Sabato 02-07-2001 04:24 PM

I found this one yesterday and asked Ted off line...

He said this one is out of his class. it would take a miracle to even get it apart. Might make a nice plaque if it were about $25.00 Ebay will likely pull this auction when they find out it is a whole gun.

I think Ted could DO this... :D (EOM)

John D. 02-07-2001 05:48 PM

Looks like it's already in the early stages of "Rust Blue"

LOL

Re: I think Ted could DO this... :D

DONT even think about it, if I see that picture again from someone asking me to redo it, I will say "NO WAY, I am fresh out of Miracles" Ted

John D. 02-07-2001 05:57 PM

Now - here is a serious question about this....

John (not me "John" - but the other "John") actually raised an interesting point when he said eBay will probably pull that auction as its a whole gun... I wonder if the seller needs to send it to an FFL holder? I'd think so, as it includes the frame and a serial number?? Is my hunch correct??

I've never, ever considered buying anything like this before - but now that I know Ted, I could be interested LOL!!!!

A fool and his money......

Dok 02-07-2001 07:46 PM

So I guess...

putting it in the Owner's Corner under YOUR name with a title of "Ted's Challenge" is out of the question????

Ted 02-07-2001 07:49 PM

Re: So I guess...

Please be nice! Remember I still have your Luger!!!

Re: why?

It is interesting to me that WWII ground dug have in recent years started being taken up as a popular type of collectable. This has of course been going on for decades in the Civil War area. I would guess this is the appeal of this P.08 to many collectors. I found a fair number of items in battle areas when I lived in Europe and threw most of it away because of the condition. I still will admit that seeing dug relics from any war or army, really intrigues me. I guess it does not intrigue me enough to collect it however.

Hugh 02-07-2001 08:06 PM

:D DOK, you could

put it under Ted's name as "THE ONE HE COULDN'T DO!"

Dok 02-07-2001 09:07 PM

HEY! I know when I'm whupped! ;) (EOM)

Dok, if you look closely you will notice that it IS your Luger that you sent to Ted!! (Ted, mistakes do happen, but trying to auction off the evidence, c'mon man!)

Dok 02-08-2001 03:56 PM
