Dressed up 1937/S42 Navy shooter
Thought I would show the just for fun part of collecting. This is the 1937/S42 made up Navy shooter that I bought from Richie Shavel awhile back. I found and won the grips on ebay. Required alittle fitting, but they turned out pretty nice. I love stag grips, and they are getting scarce and expensive. Since the import ban.
Stag grips really add a taste of old world flavor to a classic pistol, in my opinion. The holster is one of Jerry Burney's custom built Navy type II's. And shows what a genuine craftsman Jerry truly is. It's difficult to distinguish it from original. Other than the new condition. Hey! You'd be suprised what you can get for a tube of toothpaste and a couple pairs of pantyhose. <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" /> Besides they ain't Pearl. They're Stag. Ron

Nice set there Ron!
Stag does sound manly, is manly, and darn it, feels manly (ok I'll end off there). You did better than I did with ebay grip purchases, got some "chainsaw checkering tool" specials that also chipped a big chunk off right behind the safety, first time out shooting. Your grips look a little more durable... Frank H. |
Frank, I have always like Stag grips. Have had several pair on different pistols over the years. I wish I had them all back now that a nice set sells for around $200+ and rising. I scored these for $60. Good deal!
You picked the right time to move to Oregon. It's been raining pitchforks and hammer handles since Sunday. Welcome to Oregon, land of the pontoon!! :D |
