Anybody purchased any repro Luger grips from these folks ?

Hi Pete, not me I'm afraid but I'd like to find some decent repros myself. I hope you get a response to your question.

Most of the wooden repros don't even vaguely fit around the sideplate from what I've observed.

It appears that you have discovered a new source for reproduction grips for many models... It is too bad that their website doesn't have a photos of examples of these grips... They apparently offer many choices.

I am pressed for time, but if one of you gets in touch with this supplier and gets photo examples of what they offer, we can post them here on the forum and it might lead to increased sales, or you could suggest that photos on their website would certainly be helpful.

We can also put them in the Links & Resources page if they want us to do that. Any volunteers for contacting them??

Most Repros grips dont fit right just under the safety area and have those thick front and rear edges and what I call toes, that stick out at the bottom. I am of the opinion that most sellers of repro grips get them from the same source.

I suspect you're right about the single source. It's a shame there doesn't seem to be a source of reasonable quality grips at the ~$45 mark.

Here is a link to an e-Bay auction for some decent VOPO grips and the guy is even throwing in the grip screws.

These VOPO's are quite nice, fit well, and usually can be had for $ 25-30 on the auction sights.

Here is also another e-Bay link to a "wild" pair of plastic grips. I do not have any experience with this type.

Hi Pete. Thanks for the links, it's always worth watching the auctions.

I think I'm asking to much in that what I want are wood grips that look reasonably like original issue and fit. I've a pair of repro wood grips which look ok, albeit to thick and coarse, but just aren't the right profile for the frame ! It just bugs me to see the gaps.

I got my grips from Hugh on this forum. The fit is right, the look is right, the checkering is right. "The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten."

I've thought of Hugh's grips and your probably right that it's easier to pay for the quality up front !

My only reason for hesitating is that I like to try to keep my guns consistent. As my guns aren't pristine I like to put some 'wear' on the grips so they approximate the overall condition. They still don't look original, but at least they're a little bit less obvious. I don't think I could bring myself to do that to Hugh's craftsmanship !

I recommend you get Hugh's grips for the quality and put some honest wear on them... [img]wink.gif[/img] the pride of ownership will season with time and they will look better that just "right"

GEE...thanks fellows for the compliments on my grip work. I can add "wear" to newly checkered grips if desired. Just throw them out in the cattle pen for a week, and they "wear" nicely, altho a bit smelly. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

I received a set of 'border' grips a couple of weeks ago from Hugh. They are PERFECTLY fitted to the model of pistol that I requested. I requested unstained and he supplied unstained.
Beautiful grips. I thought that I would not be concerned about my grips while handling this pistol, but now I need a set of 'handling' grips for my 'handling' grips for my original grips. (You see, Ernest & Julio are very clumsy with my pistols.)
