want a mag
I would like a wooden-bottomed clip for a 1918 Erfurt, but am afraid it might be cost-prohibitive. I'm new to Lugers. Learning all I can from the forum. What should I expect to pay for the clip I want?
|
People in the luger world like to call them magazines, as they say a clip is for rifffles, but hey, what the hey!
Any hoo, the best is to put an ad here on the forum, as you did. Then look on e-bay, also look on the gun boards. Check with dealers, such as Randy Bessler who has a bunch of assorted ones on his website. What you want is a wood bottomed mag that is close to the one you are looking for. Finding an exact match is the dream of lugger collectors and is done, but rarely! Prices on e-bay run from $45 for a bad icky one to around $125 and sometimes up, all depending on condition, seller etc. I would expect to pay $75-$125 for one, if I was looking for a weimar police mag. I was under the impression an 1918 dated Erfurt was a military Luger, is that incorrect?

Contact Don Hallock he used to have several of them plus just the bases for the magazines. Ph# 425-432-6664, email drh@oz.net or p.o. box 370

Yes, a 1918 would be a military luger, but???? All of the early ones were made from wood, then in the 1930's they went to aluminum. Is that what you meant?
If you mean markings, then that will need to be someone else. What info are you looking for? |
I've got alot to learn, love these forums!
I enjoy shooting, but have a great time on the research part too. |
Hi David,
I have seen decent Erfurt magazines for sale at the Reno gun show for $ 125-175 in the past 6 months or so. I paid $ 225 for a very nice one that I posted a photo album of in the Member's Gallery titled "Pete's Erfurt Magazine Study". Take a look at that photo album as it will give you some clues what differences to look for on an authentic Erfurt magazine... I went that high on price as I was willing to pay for "condition, condition, condition"...still waiting for the right 1911 Erfurt luger to buy... Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
Ditta, As you can see above, the prices of original PO8 mags will vary quite a bit, depending on condition and proofing. The only cheaper alternative is the new wood bottom 3K mags that I sell @$30each + $5 S&H. TH
