Luger Instruction Book
 

Hello,

I have this early original luger book. It is in extremely nice condition except for the pages being a little rinkled apparently from being damp at one time. I have had the book many years stuck away in a drawer. I am going to sell it. Does anyone have an idea of about what it is worth. I would appreciate any input you can give me.

Chester, That's pretty neat. especially with the Tauscher stamp in it. I don't know what it would be worth, but the Tauscher stamp and Navy Luger specification, should add some value, I would think. If you ever find a value. And should you want to sell it. I would be interested.

Toggletop, The illustrations,ect. from your book were used by Desert Publications in their yelow jacketed The P-08 Parrabellum Luger Automatic pistol.I would really like to find a copy like yours. Congratulations!

The best source to price your booklet is Ebay. Sad to say, but true. It will probably bring more than $100.

I would be willing to pay $100 for your book, George.

Alternately, if you list it on eBay, please let us know via this forum. It may go for much more.

Hi,

This booklet appears to be as correct as they get. The illustrations are correct for the early DWM manuals and are identical to those used in the original German-language versions.

I particularly like the 'LUGER' stamp added to the front of the booklet and I agree with Ron that the Tauscher stamp is also very nice.

Although this booklet gets me in an 'iwannit' state, I believe it is best kept in the US, rather than in Europe (principles, aargh).

Anyone with a nice early pre-WW1 commercial Luger should have this booklet in his collection.

Prices above 100 - 150USD should be possible without much doubt.

Odd that some of the pasges are stamped "Furnished With Navy Pistol Only..."...

Does anyone know what this stamping was about...??? Was Tauscher importing Navy Lugers, then...???

There are some interesting 1913 era discussions about "stopping power vs. penetration" written by an Englishman that are kind of funny.

The Luger Forum is tops !

I bought a 1920's vintage DWM commercial 7.65 cal pistol marked "GERMANY" this week .
The above manual ( minus the Luger stamp on the cover as well as the dealer marking ) was included . Would this manual be correct for this pistol ?

According to Sam Costanzo's Spy Luger book, Hans Tauscher imported Navy Lugers, with complete stock/holster rigs. Its not specified, but these would have had to have been 1906 Navy Commercials.

Tauscher's records list 118 of these pistols--92 with rig--as "issued" to German agents. No idea of how many additional might have been sold to American citizens.
