Armorer's magazine question
Did Imperial armorers replace entire magizines in case of failure, or did their kits contain replacement mag bases in case of cracks or breakage?

Dwight, Good question, but I doubt anyone living will know the answer for sure. I have seen unnumbered double Imperial proofed wood bottom mags, but I would guess that they were made as whole mags at the factory for use as spares. TH

Hi Dwight,
Take a look at page 334 in Eugene Bender's larger, 2nd. book. He shows a field armourer's wooden tool box with some intact magazines inside...along with many other parts for lugers and the M98 rifle...however...I think this is a 1934 era item...not Imperial. At some point I believe someone said that a member stated they "own" or owned a complete armourers box...

Hi,
Goertz 'Die Pistole 08' also shows a tool box, including the inventory list. Both the box and the list contain '2 magazines, complete'. |
Pretty much answers my question, guys, thanks.
