P08 w/ stock!! A strange picture

Hello,
please have a look at the following picture now available on ebay:

(In Italian)

(In English - added by Admin John Sabato)

You can see, on the left in the zoom, a soldier with a P08 and stock brought to the belt.
As you know the P08 was not officially used with stock.

I guess this photo is an interesting historical testimony of the non official use of the P08 with the stock during the WWI.

Please let me know your opinion.

Ciao

Mauro, I have read that stocks were used by Police Armories to test fire pistols?

I wonder how many stocks made their way into a back sack or something for a police officer who thought it a great idea!

A great photograph of Luger history! This must be a time of transition, because there are also Reichsrevolvers in holsters in this photo.

Mauro, usual deal on this photo. I have the other now but must still get a quality scan for you. Time frame is almost certainly 1914 due to the greenery and flashlights. Very likely August, right at mobilization. I will have to examine and research the pickelhauben too determine the unit. I am in Arkansas now without my library.geo

Thank you in advance George for the scan of your beautiful picture.
John you are right. In the picture there are also reichsrevolvers. It is very interesting!
My doubt is that when the LP08 was formally accepted (3rd June, 1913) the transition with Reichsrevolver should be ended. It is very strange that after at least 6 years (1908-1914) of P08 service the reichsrevolver was still used!!
