I saw 3 or 4 "uppers" at the gun show last week. How does one end up with half a luger? Where would you get a lower?

Dwight Gruber 10-02-2002 01:12 AM

I suppose they show up on occasion, I've seen a couple online and I think Jerry Kramer in Hood River has one.

What I'm mre curious about is, where do these uppers come from, and why would someone remove them from their frames? How does a frame have more value by itself more than a complete gun?

Is there someting nefarioius happening here?

Many police depts require that confiscated guns and all turn-ins be destroyed. In some cases, they allow the parts other than the frame to be sold off to buy ammo and equipment for the dept.

Most now come from Canada and Australia where private ownership of handguns is verboten.

Reply to Orv: tearing down Navies and Artilleries. Sad.

Reply to Tom: Nefarious, definitely.

The frame is considered the gun. The oficial serial number for the gun is off of the frame. If this guy does not have a FFL, then shipping the receiver is legal.

Hello,

The 4 inch LUGER is a prohibited weapon in Canada. Guns that were never registered have to be destroyed....I mean the frame....

I sometimes get my hands on some of those parts guns...( less the frame )...they end up in my parts bin....( building shooters, trading parts, etc )

The only complete LUGERS ( 4 inch ) that can be legally transfered between collectors in Canada are those that were registered before February 1995.....SAD!....

Also 4 inch LUGERS CANNOT BE IMPORTED IN CANADA!

This is why you sometimes see a complete top assy. for sale from Canada...

For your information.....
