Rear Toggle Pin

Was examining my Erfurt Artillery, and what I noticed on the rear toggle pin caused me to break down my 1917 DWM Artillery and check that, too.

On both of these guns there is no marking on the rear toggle pin, neither serial number nor, particularly surprising with the Erfurt, proof stamp.

Do I presume these are both replacements, or is there something about Artillery markings I have yet to learn?

Dwight
Luger main pins werent required to be numbered until the early 1930s. Imperial DWMs have unmarked pins. Early Erfurts sometimes have the proof eagle on the main pin.

None of my DWM artillerys have any markings on the hinge pin. Most, but not all, of my Erfurt artillerys have Erfurt crowns on the face of the hinge pin. Does your Erfurt have crowns on the grip screws? They will look like tiny little dinks until you look close.

Jan,

Thank you for the new information, I expect it to stand me in good stead when I examine Lugers in the future.

Norm,

Thanks for the survey. Yes, it has inspector stamps on the grip screws, that's what convinced me to buy.

On my two Erfurt Artillery models, the toggle pins are clean. The grip screws are all marked.
