I bought the "snub nose" arty luger :(

Well,

I did it. I bought the sawed off Artillery Luger on GunBroker. All I can say is I saw here first

The bidding crawled all the way up to $300.00

Once I have it my hands I'll know if I can ever show my

face on this board again

There MAY be $300.00 in parts there (if the mainspring is worth $250.00)

Stay tuned for further developments.

Anyone who offers to give a good home to a Luger should always be in good standing at the Lugerforum. (Especially that 'little' guy).

I don't think you made out to bad. The rear sight is worth that much if it is not pitted to bad. At least it will have a good home! When you receive the pistol, let us know how it really looks and what are your plans for it. Congratulations

And the news just gets better...

one of our stawarts, Hugh, makes new barrels, also replacement barrels are available from other sources, so I'm sure you can salvage your purchase, and you could just wind up with a decent arty shooter, that you got for a song!!!

An "ARTY" BABY!!!?? :D (EOM)

Well whatever you do, don't damage the rear sight and sight base

on the barrel. If nothing else, you can have a barrel turned to fit as a liner to the base and the balance of it can be turned to look just like the real deal. It will make a great shooter.

My suggestion is to first make it work, and then make it pretty.

Just so you don't feel too bad, If I had $300 to gamble with, I would have done the same thing!

-John

Toss a 'can' on it

Put a Can (suppressor) on the end of the gun. Thread it, and get yourself a 9mm suppressor. Since the gun is already butchered, this should actually be worth while.

Suppressing a Luger is a great idea I think, but would never want to destroy a perfectly original Luger.

That's if, you are into quiet guns

Snub Nose

Well,

The check is on its way and soon the poor little

abused luger will have a new home.

I'm already talking with Tom Heller about a new barrel.

I'll let y'all know what it really looks like when it shows up.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Re: Snub Nose

Mark, I have purchased at least four similar cut down LPO8s for parts in the past. I believe that this was just one simple way that the German military complied with the Versailles Treaty restrictions after WWI of not making pistols with a 4" or longer barrel.
