Aluminum Grips Question

Was at a Canadian gun show last weekend(checked out all 10 tables!!).....and saw a 1920s commercial Luger with Aluminum grips.....the pattern and checkering appeared identical to normal wooden grips.....the seller claimed that these grips wre original and came on some commercial Lugers.......I have trouble believing that.....however the grips were really well made and did not look "backyard".....anyone have any info on them?....Thanks.....Peter....

Peter,
I have seen aluminium grips in Swiss. The Luger's owner told me that these grips were less expensive than the wooden one.
Ciao

Peter, I have a set of aluminum grips that were apparently custom made for someone. They have the initials R.E.S on the left side and Germany 1946 on the right one. Both have a smooth oval area in the center of the grips where the inscription is.

Guns with such grips are called "Silver Widows."

I would trade those R.E.S. intialed grips to Ralph E. Shattuck for something that I would rather have... He would probably enjoy having them!

John, These were probably the missing grips for a rare copy of a preproduction Swiss prototype.---just kidding. I know at one time, Bob's of Arkansas had aluminum grips available for most pistols. I have a set of these for the Luger Ideal stock grips. TH
