Urgent information on DWM P 08
 

Just get my hands on a .30 caliber P08 DWM pistol, the serial number is: 19XXX, has "EARS", the DWM loggo is stamped or etched in the top of the pistol, has a crown over B and a crown over U, the serial number matches the barrel and the back of the pistol. It is in 70% shape, has an argentinian inscription on the barrel.

�¿Can Any body tell me how much would it cost, the manufacture date etc...?

Luciano,Welcome to the forum. Without seeing it. If it is decent cond., with no rust or pitting. $500 to $700. Just a guess. What do you mean by "Has EARS? Are those letters stamped on it? "Ejercito Argentino"
Argentine Army? This could add to the value considerably. Post photos if possible.

It is in a 70% condition, little rust on the toggle action and back strap but the action sounds nice, the magazine bottom is of wood, has no marks on the magazine.

I am guessing, but it sounds like the "ears" you mention are the dished toggle knobs of the 1900 model Luger. The serial number of 19XXX also places your Luger in the later 1900 model production, perhaps around 1904. The barrel markings are those of the importer, an early large sporting goods dealer in Argentina, much like Abercrombie & Fitch or Stoger here in the US.

Yes Ron, you are right the "ears" I refer to, are the dished toggle Knobs.

The gun belong to the grandfather of a friend of mine, here in Mexico, so it is impossible for me to trace the story of this gun. The gun has some scratches on the top near the portion were the barrel matches the rest on te gun, there is no blue on the backstrap neither in the backstrap safety.

�¿Any more help, about the price, the story of this gun?

Luciano, If your friend's M1900 Commerical (no markings on top of chamber?) is not pitted, the parts are worth about $700 here in the USA. If the part numbers all match, the gun is probably worth $1000 or more depending on overall condition. TH

The gun has a lot of oxide bleeding marks along the back and front strap, the barrel, the grip safety, the bore has some pitting etc. All numbers match, the firing pin is broken, the grips are in bad shape (lot of oil over the years). Besides the gun overall state of not mint condition, it sounds well. I will say that it is in a 60 to 70% condition of the bluing.

Luciano, Original firing pins for the M1900 are very difficult to find and generally sell here in the $100 range. I do have some M29 Swiss ones that I've converted for the M1900 @$50. I also have several grades of M1900 grips, from repros @$75 to minty originals @$350 and several used ones in between. TH

Luger doc: Thank you for the information regarding the firing pin, if I kept the gun, I surely get in touch with you. The first thing that I want to do is to find out the fair price of this particular piece. Knowing that, I would see if I buy the gun and restore it or pass it to some one else. The thing here is that the owner (my boss) doesn�´t want to keep the gun (it belonged to his grandfather and then pass to his father). So he told me to help him selling the gun.

If I kept the piece, I surely need a lot of help from you guys to do a decent restoration of it, basically the blueing of the gun since all its parts match.

So any information regarding the price of this piece would be very welcome.
