ANCHUTZ REWORK
What do you guys think about this Luger, is it original? I thought that the Anschutz reworks had the J.G. Anschutz stamped on the barrel? Is this another type of rework?

The eagle/N proofs on the barrel suggest a commercial proofing of the 1939-1945 era.

Interesting that the DWM luger has the the Artillery notch, but it was never chamber dated...
This one really came out of the Weimar parts bins...??? Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
Tony, You are correct that this is not an Anschutz rework, rather one done by Fabrmann. I have seen these before and am not certain if they were done during the WW2 era or postwar. The pistol appears to have been either reworked from a 20 commerical (still have comm. numbering on side plate & TD lever) or made for the military (military style numbering on toggle parts and receiver) during the Weimar era from left over parts. Due to the condition, it is certainly not worth the "buy it now" price, probably more like $750 max. TH

Someone asked me about this luger and I gave him the same explanation that you just gave me. But, I figured that I should ask the experts as well. I even gave it a price of $700 max, so I am not that far off. It also looks darker than the usual, so I figured that it was salt blued as well.
Thanks. |
Tony, It looks to me as if the new barrel is salt blued and the rest of the luger has its original, but abused, rust blue. $750 may be generous for this one, but with some recent mismatched PO8 imports topping $600, it's hard to say. TH
