holy grail

you all seem to know what it is all about when it comes to lugers.I think I have found the holy grail of knowledge with these little babies.I have been collecting guns for a long time.I acquired a (DWM 1915 commercial serial#8165) not to long ago.Is this a average run of the mill luger or is there anything special about it.I always wanted one.Thank you for your time for any information you all have.Let me know if there is anything else about this luger you need.

twobit, if you can provide photos of it, further information such as markings, placement of serial numberings, etc., then more help can be provided.

Welcome to the forum!

Pictures would help. Since it has a date and with that serial number, I doubt it is a commercial. Probably the last commercial produced was near the start of WWI around 1913, possibly early 1914. Commercial Lugers would not have a chamber date and would have a 5 digit serial number. Is it 9mm? Does it have Crown/N proofs?

By the way, I like your member number.

thank you for your response.I am not able to do the piture thing.the numbers under the barrel is 6013 and 6013 on the left side then still on the barrel real small 682 under the barrel on the frame it has 8165 for the rest of the #s I see 13 all over the slide.extracter, snare ect.it has a 65 on the take down lever and a 65 on the lever that slides up to put on the safty.on the back strap it look like it would be able to put on a stock? 1915 on the chamber.on the right side of the luger it has a couple of s with crowns and the eagle with the crown.inside the grip its carved E.B.1925
its 9mm.im not sure about crown/N proofs. there is no import marks.

The gun is definitely the sum of two different Lugers... that makes it shooter class... Although it has a stock lug, it would not be legal to attach one without paying a 200 dollar federal tax and registering it as a short barreled rifle... not really worth that, but certainly enjoy it for what it is...

A Luger!
