S/42 1936 P08
 

Hello,

I've just purchased an S/42 1936 dated P08. I know this may sound like a really stupind question, but how rare is the 1936 S/42 Lugers when compared to the others with S/42? The serial numbers match, proofmarks intact with the crown/N mark under the barrel.

This is great info for the Mauser collector. Can you continue the estimated production figures for byf too? That would finish off the series... TIA..Bob

RLQ, 1936 Mauser lugers are difficult to find in exc condition. Your C/N barrel sounds like an E.German replacement, which hurts its value as a collectors piece. I would bet that the pistol has also been dip blued (should be rust blued with strawed small parts). Tom H.

Many thanks for the replies! My P08 in fact does appear to have been dip blued. It is import marked. When I saw the crown/n proofmark, I was thinking about the East German P38 reworks that have this mark. Correct me if I am wrong, was this same mark also applied to pistols made prior to 1940?
