RC markings

Now i know that the "RC" under crown marking means that the luger had minor flaws and wasn't initially accepted for service. I was looking over my 1914 Erfurt and found those proofs, I thought that the RC proof was common on Erfurts because they weren't as "well machined" as their DWM counterparts. Would the value be effected greatly by the RC proofs? ALSO, I found the letters P. W. 142 on the grip strap... could that possibly be police markings? any feedback is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Hi Munsterman,

RC or Revissions Commisions markings do not detract from your pistol's value.The P.W. inscription most likely indicates Polizei Schule Westfalen, waffen 142. Please see German Small Arms Marking, Goertz P. 93.

Hope this helps,

Tom A.

Munsterman,

I hope you see this. I'm researching Weimar Police marks and your Erfurt with "P.W.142" on the grip strap is of great interest to me. I am particularly interested in whether it has/had a sear safety or magazine safety. I would also appreciate knowing the serial number, including any suffix. If you wish to reply by Private Mail or directly to me at dermaus@aol.com, I will keep this information anonymous.

Thanks very much for any help.

Don

Sorry it took me so long to reply to your comments on my luger all i know is that it is a 1914/1920 Weimar Police Erfurt Luger that it has P.W. 142 police markings ( i was told it meant Polizei Schule Westfalen Waffen 142) you wanted to know if it had a sear safety or magazine safety what is the difference? it has a safety that just blocks the sear from extending out to fire, if thats what you mean, as for the serial number, if you are interested i could email it to you....i believe there are pics of my luger on this site under the topic "black widow luger?" any info is greatly appreciated!!!

Mag safety is just above the blue thing at the left,

the Sear Safety is the bar at the top;
