Unit Stamp
My friend has a 1921 all matching Luger, but we need help with the unit stamp. It reads:
S.Br.i.1878 The pistol has 1 matching mag,and the holster looks like its Police to me. Whats the unit? Thanks! |
it is police, S=Schutzpolizie (municipal police force), Br.=Breslau, i? is this a #1 not letter i, 1 is first district, gun # 1878....hope this helps

Thanks for your help with the unit stamp. The owner now is sure that the "i" is really a "1" as you stated. Also, considering where the pistol was "liberated" we now think Br. stands for Braunsweig. He is thinking of trading this to me for a Colt 45 (service auto). I"m still thinking about it.

I bet I could come up with a 45 for that Luger! sounds like a nice one,

I've got several NIB Colt and S'field .45's should you want to consider a trade....thanks
|
If I can make the trade happen, probably not. The only Luger I own is a DDR example (I think) and I want an original from the 20s-40s era. As soon as my father sends me the pics of mine,I"m gonna post em,because I can not figure out what the hell I"ve got. Anyone ever see a small kk on the underside of a barrel?
|
Kernel, If the kk mark is in a circle, usually over a number (10 being most common), this is a Portugese inspector's mark. Probably indicating that the barrel has been replaced. Tom H.
