NUMBERS AND VALUE

THE LUGER I HAVE IS A 1940 WITH A 42 ON THE COCKING PART (WHAT EVER THAT IS CALLED). CAN ANYONE TELL ME SOME VALUE OF LUGER?

THE LUGER HAS ALL MATCHING SERIAL NUMBERS. IT HAS A SERIAL NUMBER OF 84XX. IT APPEARS TO BE TO HAVE EAGLES WITH NUMBERS OF 656 OR 655.

PS. THE NUMBERS MATCH INSIDE ALSO.

Ralph, we need more information to help.

I have a 1940 42 that I bought for around $825 and they are worth up to $1100 or so, but if it has been changed (there are many internal numbered parts), or re-blued, or possibly damaged, then it is worth $400 - $550??

Can you tell us any markings on the gun?

Proofs? (see on your left under tech information if you came through www.lugerforum.com) Tell us what and where proofs and markings are located.

There are forms in this section, where you can print out and then write down pertinent information.

What serial number is on the gun? To include any letters next to or under the serial number?

What year or letters are stamped on the top of the receiver?

What initials or letters are on the toggle?

Can you provide pictures, to include side, top, etc?

Ralph, I moved your post to here, easier to keep track of in one area.

I assume you are newer to computers?

Anyway, being all matching is very good, I am guessing you took it all the way apart, even small parts, such as firing pins are numbered. So value of an all matching then depends on condition and rarity and the 1940 42 is one of the most common, (they made over a 100,000 of them). So value depends on the condition of it.

Maybe you can you give us a more detailed response of what the gun looks like if you can't make a picture?
