1917 Erfurt
My father was a combat replacement in the Mechanized Cavalry soon after the Battle of the Bulge and then served in the Army of occupation after the war's end. He brought home an Erfurt Luger from that time and is now interested in selling it. It has been in its holster for the last 50 years and we just now taken it out for inspection. The main body of the pistol is numbered 3197 and all other parts that I can see are numbered 97. I've taken several pictures of the pistol, holster, clips and tool if any of you might be interested and willing to suggest a possible value.
Let me know if you like to take a look at the pictures. Hugh Mason sciguy@rochester.rr.com |
Hello Hugh,
Although I am primarily a Navy Luger Guy, my Dad was also involved in the Ardennes Offensive. I would be very interested in seeing pictures. Pls send to catofong@aol.com. Value is, of course, commensurate with condition. A single question: Do you still have the "bring back" paper work work? Thanks and looking forward to the pictures. Tom A. Who is VERY proud of what guys like your dad and mine did many years ago |
Hugh,
If you would not mind, can you post your photos here on the Luger Forum, as well. If you cannot follow the posting steps, please send them to me at "pebbink@pacbell.net" and I will get them posted, here, so all LF members can see your rig and help you with info. and valuation. Tom. A. has not been able to figure out the photo-posting thing for over 1 year and sending the photos to him, alone, would not benefit the entire membership... :D Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
All
Have had long off forum discusion with Hugh strongly advising him to keep piece as is and in family. And I didn't need a single picture to do it! Tom A Who believes the forum picture stuff is, if not the anti-christ, it is certainly al quaida in a clandestine form |
If the weather ever lets up, I hope Tom A is still in the burbs of DC and will call for lunch and diagnosis of the upload problem :D
I am trapped at home at least until tomorrow... |
John,
What's wrong with this weather? 75 degrees and mostly sunny today. Well, I suppose our place in WV is a little cooler. Al |
Very funny Al :D The temp here is averaging in the teens and the secondary roads in VA have kept the schools closed for the last 3 days.
I have finally made it into the office... now only have two day backlog to catch up PLUS today's stuff! I'm outta here! |
John,
Sorry to tease you, but I couldn't resist. I put up with northern winters for 60 years and I won't be back north after Sept or before May ever again. I had a house in PA at the top of a 1400 ft private road for 20 years and spent many evenings fighting snow. I don't know how they ever settled the north. I admit that I am lucky to have the best of both north and south weather. FL is a great place to live for at least 8 months of the year (hope I can dodge hurricanes). Readily available carry permits, close to a great free county shooting range, reasonable laws, lots of guns. Life is very good. |
I wonder how that Luger made out in a holster for 50 years. Most of the time this would be the PITS!
