A question on my 1912 DWM....

What is the number, 8,84 on the barrel below the serial number.

The marking is the inner bore diameter, and I think it is land to land.

From a previous posting

[quote]the 8,82 indicates the bore diameter or the distance from the top of one land to the top of an opposing land...

So you will see 8.83, 8,82, etc on guns.

I think I have it figured out. 9MM bore is .354 and if I multiply .884X4 it comes out .3536 so the number is the bore size....

The 8.84 mm is the lands diameter, like Ed said and converted to inches is 0.348" A .355" diameter bullet corresponds to 9.017mm groove diameter. The multiplier is not exactly 4 it is 1/.254=3.937 When you show these diameters to 3 decimal places, you also need to use the multiplier to that many places also.

p.s. Europeans use a "comma" whereas we Yanks use a "period" in their metric measurements...
