Military DWM Grip Types
 

It is my understanding that somewhere after 1908 DWM switched from fine-line checkered grips to coarser checkering.

Can anyone tell me when this transition took place, if at all?

Luke, To the best of my knowledge, the courser checked DWM grips began with the 1914 production, when the grip shape had to be changed anyway to accommodate the addition of a stock lug. TH

I have searched my reference books and can find nothing about the subject. From conversations with other collectors, I have often heard comments about finer checkering on the early military models, but no one seems to be able to cite a data source.
