I sold my Luger

When I realized the forum administrator was prejudiced against the fact that an M9 easily beat the PO8 in combat situations.

I liked it, but realized a world of prejudice here.

While I wouldn't argue that the Luger is the equal of the M9 in a combat situation, I would point out that this IS a Luger Forum and NOT an M9 Forum. Favoritism for the Luger is a given.

BTW, compared to the 1911A1, the M9 was a bad decision for combat situations. No way, no days does the 9mm in hard ball stack up against the 45.

John St 09-26-2003 09:55 PM

I felt the same way about the .45 and have had over 10 or maybe 20 of them. I can't keep a .45 even over a Luger 9mm.

LONG RANGE (50 to 60 yards) kills all .45 Autos.

The .45 Auto is a slingshot.
The 9mm is a rifle in a pistol.

John St., I am afraid that you must take a lot of medication prior to posting. And for those that will get mad at me for saying this;

1. He was angry because he Always posted in the same part of the forum and on several occassions, I moved them to the appropriate part of the forum

2. He many times used half sentances, that I had a hell of a time figuring out, esp some evenings...

3. Sold his Luger? What a silly thing to do, hope it was to someone that could appreciate it...

4. Post on The Luger Forum that he sold his Luger because of being prejudiced... Well, John D is a bit prejudiced, about HK's, but his range of weapons I bet is more than Lugers? And besides what Doubs said, so?

5. I'll take a 45 any day over a 9mm

Ed,

I agree, a .45 beats a 9 mm any time, even in a loose GI gun. My Para-Ord 14 shot gun is what I would carry if firepower mattered. Nevertheless, a Luger is sure neat artistically. The only solution is to get a bunch of each.

Just an opinion,
More often than not when the chips are down, the value of the firearm is determined more by the skill of the user than the caliber of the pistol........Larry Cribbs

So true. A cool head and a steady hand are deadly. Also, when the chips are down, the buffalo is empty.

John St

My condolences.

I have never and will never allow what other people think of me or my property to affect what I purchase, sell or keep. I don't give others that much credit or that much power over me.

I don't know what to say about a man who sells something he was excited to buy just because of what another man thinks.

Let me know what kind of car you own, so I can insult it and you can sell that as well. For that matter, where is your house? If I said I didn't like your neighborhood, would you sell your house too?

Hello All,
I think that John St. must think he is RAMBO or something as he always talks about using guns for combat(IE. fighting street gangs etc.). To bad as I collect firearms, because I like firearms.(yes I do have them if things go to hell). I have Lugers, Mausers, Walthers in .30 mauser, 9mm, 32.acp all old and out dated but who cares, I LIKE THEM. :D But to sell a gun because someone thinks a certain type is good or bad etc. is just silly. If you liked it, who cares what someone else thinks.

So I guess John St. will not be buying anymore Lugers any time soon which means more for me!

PS: Hey Jimbo, maybe we can get his car, house etc. cheap if we disagree with him.

Just back from a short sabbatical... SHeesh! I missed ALL the fun...

John D. your sides must hurt from laughing so hard...

Surely... somefolks filling out the 4473 form ought to check the block that confirms they are legally prohibited from owning firearms... just because the dealer can't know everyone personally... :D

Tac, Mr Street having trouble telling 10 from 20 45 Auto pistols likely has the same problem with distance. My 45 pistols still have not lost their way at 50 yards, the 45/110 Sharps is still accurate and ferocious at 500. If you ever visit Ohio you must fire a few rounds through that one.

Heinz 10-05-2003 09:00 PM

Tac, you forget, I have been to the Midlands, you are no stranger than most! Went to Sheffield this spring but I forgot your phone number.

I am jealous of the Whitworth. The prize shooter of the civil war in my book.

I need one of those long scopes for my sharps. I use 95 grains and 600 grain slug. Nose bleeds are not so bad when you get used to it.

regards, heinz

Tac, when I lived in Suffolk (Needham Market), my neighbor (an Englishman) took his wife on holiday to Yorkshire. I asked about his trip when he'd returned and he said he had a problem understanding the people in Yorkshire. He'd asked directions to a place and got only a blank stare even after trying to pronounce the name several different ways. He finally wrote the name on paper and immediately got directions. He spelled it for me and I said I'd have pronounced it -----! He looked at me in the strangest way and said "That's exactly how that Bloke pronounced it!" True story!
