Any police lugers have shiny black finishes?

I'm new to the luger world, but I was trolling my local gun shows when I ran across an interesting luger. It looked *mint* and had a lusterous black finish (almost looked painted). It was marked with Eagle L markings and a 1941 on the top. It also had a mauser banner on it. I'm assuming the gun was refinished, but the guy selling it "didn't know". Anybody know what I saw? Any chance it was original? The guys was asking $600. It seemed a little too good to be true, so I just kept walkin'.

At $600, a police eagle L, assuming it matches, even if redone might be a good deal. Just ship it to Thor for restoration and you would have something nice.

Sounds like it may be one of the Russian or East German imports. Still, with the police markings, I would definitely buy it for $600. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
