which grips are correct ?

My 1939 "42" P.08 has black plastic stocks but the bottom of the grips, above the retaining screws, seem to have had some material "whittled away" to make them fit. Does this mean that the grips are the wrong style or that the retaining screws are wrong size ?

Many times, replacement grips (even original grips from other guns), don't fit as well on different guns.

So I imagine that your grips just don't fit well?

Ed, it sounds almost like grips were individually fitted to each pistol....? What are you running in the '66 Mustang ? My daily driver is a 1964 Fairlane 500 Fordor with a mere 300k miles. It has a 260 V8 I rebuilt in June, 1996 and two-speed tranny.

I know that many parts were fitted, but the frames were a bit different over the years also between the makers.

others chime in that know more??

And I run a 289 in her, but she is up on blocks in the barn. Had her out for a couple of months, but lack of time and she needs some work

Pete, guns and old cars are a natural combo, huh ? '66 was the last body using the original '64 1/2 "design", right ? '67 had different tailights and a little longer hood...? My Fairlane is a semi-daily driver....much to the chagrin of the folks who get behind me on two-lane blacktops - hey, with 350,000 on the clock I just don't hurry. I rebuilt the 260 V8 in '96 but the two-speed tranny remains untouched since leaving the Kansas City factory in '63. Firearms require a lot less mainenance .

Your grips should be checkered wood and not plastic to be as the pistol left the factory.
