Bohler Stahl
I came across a 1914 DWM yesterday that I couldn't pass up (read that as pretty cheap), even though it's a little rougher in appearance than I normally collect. Quite a bit of pitting on the grip straps and about 80-85% blue remaining overall. It is interesting in that it has the "Bo 30" marking on the bottom of the barrel indicating that it is made of Bohler steel. These barrels are supposed to be rare, but I'm not sure how rare. I can't remember ever reading why this type of steel was used and hope that one of the membership is more familiar with the subject. By the way, the S/N is 37a, which is kind of neat and the only 2 digit Luger I've ever owned.
Thx, Lyn
