Hey Peter, no help here, but can you show the pieces and the inside?

Looks like a nice box, but makes me wonder?? IS it older or newer such as the 70's Mausers?

Hi Ed...I will post some more pictures...it has wartime stamps on the box and the parts...trying to figure out why the photos came out so wide??? http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/MVC-316F.JPG

Hey Peter, I "fixed em" hope you don't mind. You just need to put a return (enter) after each picture, otherwise the server thinks that it is one continuous picture and that is why they get so wide.

Peter, Your wood box appears to be one of the new repros made in the last few years in So. Carolina. I doubt that Mauser ever sold these boxes, even the originals, and they would never stamp them with so many logos. Tom H.

The Mauser logo is a rather crudely applied inkstamp which doesn't lend much to it's credibility.

The eagle 77 on the box and the unit markings plus the fit and finish would seem to be original ..plus the serial number on the box is not...quite the same as the parts(2267 vs2967)....why would someone go to the trouble of setting up a kit with mismatched numbers???...were these reproduction boxes set up like this one?...the guys that made these reproductions(if this is one)sure did a good job...did they sell for a good price????thanks for your feedback....Peter

I don't know that this has any bearing on the comment above but I have a pre-war Mauser .22 training rifle with the Mauser logo stamped in the stock. I'm surprised at the relative crudeness of the stamping but after seeing other examples and pictures of many more, I'm convinced that it's original.
