RK, definitely a rear toggle from an Artillery Model on this parts gun...

John, I'll go a bit further and say that as best I can read the numbers, it is an arty Luger with a replacement short barrel. The other parts seem to match (the receiver has the arty sight notch) but the barrel is an obvious replacement. I can't tell about the sideplate.

Might be an OK find for someone with an arty barrel and rear sight.

This could be a totally acceptable gun, as it is a WW2 rework? With an Eagle 63 on the barrel. EXCEPT it should have the rear sight on the toggle if it has been properly reworked, that is what you meant right Jim? {{just took me a minute to grasp that}}

It always makes me wonder when the pictures are so dark, it is hard to tell? It isn't hard to lighten pictures up, like so:

It's an LP08 with a P08 barrel. Not likely a German rework but shade tree job. I've been watching this thinking it's a good buy at the right price. I currently shoot a 1917 LP08 all matching and reblued by Thor. I worry about the original firing pin and such every time I run a Trommelmag through it.

Shade tree gunsmithing indeed. Judging by the marks on the side of the receiver it has been wrenched on pretty sloppily, and harshly, to replace the barrel. I'd vote for the barrel being a real Eagle/63 removed from another Luger--note that it has a witness mark.

It may well be a good buy at the right price. I'd be cautious about the receiver rails being in alignment due to the wrench work.

Agreed on all of the above. I can't imagine that it is a "rework" by any military, German or otherwise. Someone got hold of an arty Luger with a bad or sawed off barrel (not uncommon post WWII) and replaced the barrel not knowing or caring about the sight or whether the gun would be really usable. Spare Luger barrels were sold here as surplus for some time. That barrel has a WaA but that is the inspector marking for the barrel itself. There is no indication that it was put on the gun (or any gun) in Germany. (No proofs.)

It's difficult to tell from the photos if the pistol is matching, less barrel, or whether the frame even has a stock lug. Be careful. TH
