Just purchased, please help Identify
I seem to have heard that some were undated(?). Stamped Erfurt w/crown over on toggle, no date, matched numbers #74xx, 100-200 meter rear movable sight, front sight dove tailed, 6" barrel added, barrel stamped "ALLEMAGNE" (barrel manufacturer(?), beautifully reblued, matched serial # grips and nice extra pair. On right side: looks like script "B C P with crowns over", Eagle type stamp crown over, crown w/RC under (revisions(?), stock lug, 1 matched mag, 1 extra mag stamped "fxa w/eagle type and 37 under, P.08 also on mag, "Gesichert" is hidden when safety is up. It's a beautiful piece but is it built or semi-real(?) Paid $600. Could you please give me a general idea of the value? Also what is the white used by some on stamped symbols, and should I use it?

Welcome to the forum, there are so many inconsistencies that I won't even attempt to sort it all out. Erfurts were military and should have a date but it could have been removed when reworked. On the 6" barrel ("Allemagne" means "French") and dovetailed sights are additions. The adjustable rear sight is either an artillery sight on a shortened barrel or a Navy sight on the rear of the toggle, not sure by description where it is. The Erfurt on the toggle means its an Erfurt toggle. The grips are matched to the frame, does the toggle and frame numbers match and does the mag match both? Its real in that its a Luger but not in its "as issued" condition. If you like it and it shoots and looks good to you then it is worth the $600. Shoot the hell out of it. The major deal with shooting collector guns is that if a serial numbered part breaks then value decreases drastically. Post a few pictures, I'd like to see it.

RK -- It seems I cannot figure out how to post a photo(s). Thanks so much for yours and any other replies. Would still like to post photos however.
Movable sight is at the rear of the toggle which has the same serial # as the frame. The grips are matched to the frame as is the one mag. |
Art, there is a tutorial under the help board, but here are simple instructions are:
Have a teenager upload them. :D Harder instructions, choose upload photos, (ensure less than 180 kilobytes), then copy the URL, and then paste it here. Ed |
To Ed: my teenagers are not teens any more. The moveable 100-200 sight is on the toggle, the toggle matches the frame, the grips match the frame, the mag matches the frame. I would appreciate help, perhaps when the photos are posted I can get more ideas from the learned ones. I'm just starting again into Lugers, etc., after many years, please have patience.

Jamese--What a guy! Thanks much. Live in St. Pete Beach on the other coast. May take you up on your kind offer. However just took photos and will attempt it again. I found this site and knew I had discovered a group of informed individuals. Thanks again may get back to you.
