Mauser K-Date at RIA - Navy Issue or Not?
Did anybody have the opportunity to carefully inspect/examine the Mauser K-Date Luger serial #934 (lot #3423) before the RIA to determine whether or not it had a Navy proof mark? According to the description in the catalog, it makes no mention of a Navy proof mark, but a friend recently told me that Luger has a Navy proof mark. Can the existence of this proof mark justify a price of around $10k when the same pistol is now advertised on Simpson's web site for $13,500?
Let us assume that another K-Date in the same condition would surface, but such a Luger would be a Military model. Having witnessed the price of a K-Date 'going through the roof, how would see the market today after the recent RIA? Cheers, Albert |
I went back and looked at the catalog description a second time and it only mentioned that the pistol had an Army proof. Would a K-Date destined to the Navy have both an Army and a Navy proof? If a Navy proof was on the pistol, where would it be located?
Thanks, Albert |
