Bob's byf Collection

Check this out. Three Lugers my fellow K98k collector Bob bought last weekend. And you guys think we just like old Mauser rifles.

1938...S/42 WaA 63 and early stick proofs 85%
1940...42 code WaA655 85%
1941...byf WaA 655 95%

All matching I’m told.

Hi Guys!! I'm the buyer and just registered on this forum. Yes, matching in original blue and one has matching mag. Thought the second gun had a matching mag but while the number is right the block is off. Grips are numbered to match on two as the 1938 grips are unmarked (replacement?).

One lug came w/ a beautiful holster (brown, '38 dated, maker marked and WaA, perhaps luft?) and the second holster was a rare P39. Third luger w/o a holster. Holsters came with extra clips and 1 tool.

The guy also had a matching p38 w/ softshell and 3 edges w/ frogs and some K98 tooling. Sat was a great day. Price...well I figure I paid less than 50% of market. Wife is grumpy but she can't do the math... Bob in OH

Bob, Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your instant collection!

Most people have a theory about brown Luger holsters that involve the Luftwaffe. This may or may not be the case but it is mostly speculation and wishful thinking. There are other possibilities; The Police were not bound by the strict Army regulations and brown holsters in the Army style were known. Look carefully in the interior liner to see if any marks exist. Luftwaffe accepted holsters were sometimes marked there. Good Hunting! Jerry Burney
