Halo?
This appears to be a stunning beauty, but the halo on the "34" seems odd.

Roadkill,
I noticed the same Luger yesterday and it looks good to me according to the images. Everything looks consistent such as the excellent checkering on the wooden grips; the slight wear on the high edges; the fading on the grip screws; slight patina in some areas; and the fire blue under the left toggle. I would not let the halo around the serial number bother you because I have seen this effect on some early Lugers. It is a pity that it does not have a matching magazine, otherwise, it would have been a hard 1914 Military Luger to beat. Albert |
I have no question to its authenticity, (as if I'd know anyway), just that the halo seems much more defined than examples provided here earlier, But then there's the lighting, ect, factor. Beautiful gun.

The intensity and angle of the light have a lot to do with how prominent the halo appears. The intensity of the Mini-Maglite is what makes the halo as well as the oxidation under the blue stand out so well.
