When blood is a solvent...
Hi Guys!
The effects of a long term blood soaked pistol that was stored & forgotten... Captured in a fierce battle, it was put away full of blood...When taken out of storage, it was wiped clean...so clean that even the bluing was gone <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> Sad! for an otherwise nice P block BYF 41 :( kidvett  http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/41rearlft.jpg http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/41rearrgt.jpg http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/41rear.jpg http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/41reartop.jpg |
Very interesting.
So no "blood pitting", but the taking of blue is very true! My apoligies to any I doubted!! ED |
Looks like someone tried some bead blasting on this gun. The little pits on the bluing look like it.

Looks like something strong such as muriatic acid got on it in places. We used that to strip old bluing etc off old guns. Works almost instantly, dip and rinse.

While this is very extensive bluing removal... it is very similar to the marks that used to appear across the top of my byf 41... and there is a blood story to go with it...
check my folder under the 'old owner's corner' link on the left... unfortunately, I took no "before" photos but the story of how the blueing was removed related to my by the vet that brought it back is there in detail. |
